Our Work in the Otley Community
At Otley AIM Martial Arts, community isn’t something we talk about, it’s something we live. Our Academy is built on respect and confidence, but more so we are about taking Action with Integrity and Motivation and we’re proud to bring those values into the heart of Otley and the wider Leeds area.
We believe martial arts should uplift people of all ages and abilities, and that means giving back, showing up, and supporting the causes that matter to our members and the area in which we are located.
Throughout the year, we take part in a range of community activities designed to make a real difference. From charity challenges to family fun days, our students, instructors, and families come together to help strengthen the place we call home.
Some of the ways we get involved include:
-
Fundraising events for local charities and community groups
-
Sponsored challenges led by our students and instructors
-
Community demonstrations at fairs, festivals, and school events
-
Inclusive activities that help children and adults build confidence, resilience, and connection
Every event is an opportunity to show what martial arts is really about: respect, discipline, kindness, and supporting one another.

Otley Carnival 2025
Otley AIM Martial Arts was excited to have taken part in the local Carnival Day, celebrating everything that makes our community vibrant and welcoming. Joining the parade gave us the chance to stand alongside local families, showcase the confidence and teamwork our students build, and open our doors to children of all ages. We’re a family‑orientated club at heart, and being part of events like this helps us stay connected, visible, and truly integrated into the town we’re proud to serve.
Lineham Farm - Exercise Fundraiser
In December 2025, our members and their families came together for a huge two‑hour exercise session to raise money for Lineham Farm, a Leeds‑based children’s charity that supports young people through outdoor learning and adventure. The energy in the room was incredible, and thanks to everyone’s hard work and generosity, we raised over £500 to help the charity continue its amazing work with children across the region.

Gratitude and Creativity brought to Otley Town
We set a creative challenge for all our members: decorate a rock with a positive message or colourful design, ready to be hidden around Otley for others to find. Families got stuck in with paint, glitter, and big imaginations, and the results were amazing. These little “kindness rocks” were then placed around the town to brighten someone’s day, spark a smile, and spread a bit of AIM positivity throughout the community.
Coffee and Cake Morning in Aid of Chrons and Colitis UK
We hosted a Halloween‑themed coffee and cake morning to raise money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, and our members and they threw themselves into it with amazing energy. The kids arrived in costume, everything from tiny witches to mini superheroes, adding loads of fun to the day. With spooky bakes, warm drinks, and plenty of laughter, we managed to raise over £300 to support the charity’s vital work. It was a fantastic mix of community spirit, creativity, and kindness.
